Intracranial Otogenic Complications in Adults: New Factors Influencing its Onset

Objective: To identify new factors influencing the onset of intracranial otogenic complications in adults. Study Design: Retrospective cohort Place and Duration Study: Department ENT, Nowshera Medical College, Qazi Complex from 1st October 2019 to 31st 2020. Methodology: One thousand nine hundred cases within age 40-78 years were enrolled. The data before viral pandemic corona virus was compared with gained during pandemic. included meningitis, abscess subdural/epidural or brain, sigmoid sinus internal jugular vein-thrombosis. period since registration till surgery varied 6-24 hours an average 10-14 hours. confirmation coronavirus every patient done admission by using reverse transcription polymerase-chain reaction through nasopharyngeal swab. Results: mean 50.3±11.2 years. It observed that there complication as 4 pre covid time while ten reported times. Venous-sinus thrombosis present 60% only 25% duration presenting a significant raise time. Cardiovascular comorbidity also presented significantly higher 50% respectively highest probability. Brain coagulopathies found times than covid, Odd Ratio 0.04(0.003; 1.05) 95% CI. Conclusion: for adult venous thrombosis, brain abscess, comorbidities cardiovascular diseases.
